Rob Barham from the NOC gave a presentation on creeking at the March AWC meeting. It was a packed house.
Rob Barham from the NOC started his presentation with a lively discussion challenging paddling dogmas. He said to us in revival style, it is time to free yourself from paddling dogmas! On the left he addressed the dogma "rotate when you paddle"
Martina demonstrating that the torso doen't rotate when you paddle :-) The lower body does.
Rob also challenged "paddle, paddle, paddle," and that you are more stable when faster than the current. He asked the group when you are paddling down Rapid Transit on the Green Narrows, do you really want to be going faster than the current? :-)
Ashley and Chad are rocks :-) Rob talked about the importance of paddling in arc's, especially though a boulder garden (or though Ashley and Chad)
There were plenty of prizes too! Mike is the happy owner of the Kayaker's Toolbox
Lots of questions and lots of lively discussion
Rob demonstrating how to help someone (in this case the chair) out of a pin while in your boat.
Lots of questions after the presentation too!
Thank you Rob!
